Terms of service

Clear terms for a truth-first tool.

These terms describe the relationship between you, pHood, Origin, and Ananke—and the limits of what nutrition information can responsibly promise.

Last updated: August 19, 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are between you and Ananke Inc. (“Ananke,” “pHood,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply when you use pHood’s websites, mobile applications, nutrition logging, analysis, scoring, memberships, support, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. What pHood provides

pHood turns information you provide about food, drinks, supplements, and your health profile into nutrition estimates, references, trends, and educational observations. Inputs may be incomplete and food analysis may involve uncertainty. We show missing or uncertain information when reasonably possible, but we do not guarantee that every value is complete or error-free.

You may use the Service only lawfully and may not interfere with its operation, bypass access controls, probe security, misuse another person’s information, submit unlawful material, or reverse engineer protected portions except where law permits.

3. Origin identity and authorization

Origin is Ananke’s separate identity and authorization service. Origin authenticates you and gives pHood the limited authority needed to recognize your account. Your Origin identity may be reusable across Ananke services; your pHood nutrition records remain part of pHood.

You are responsible for protecting devices and authentication methods associated with Origin and for notifying us if you believe access has been compromised.

4. Nutrition information is not medical care

pHood provides educational nutrition information, not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, emergency services, or a substitute for a qualified professional. Scores and patterns are facts and estimates intended to support awareness—not grades, judgments, or instructions.

Do not delay or disregard professional care because of pHood. Consult an appropriate professional before making decisions involving a medical condition, pregnancy, allergies, disordered eating, medication, supplements, or a child’s nutrition. If you believe someone is experiencing an emergency, contact local emergency services.

5. Accounts, eligibility, and future family use

You must provide accurate information and use only an account you are authorized to control. The current release does not yet provide the verified guardian consent, family-container, monitoring, and governed child-account controls needed for independent use by children. A parent or guardian should not create an independent account for a child until pHood introduces those controls and updates these Terms.

When family functionality becomes available, guardian authority and family relationships will be managed through Origin, and child-facing AI or automated features will be subject to approved governance controls. Additional family terms and consent will apply before use.

6. Memberships and future purchases

pHood is currently free and does not require a purchase or payment method. If optional paid features are introduced later, their price and terms will be presented through the applicable app-store purchasing system before purchase. Contact support@anankeinc.com with questions.

If optional paid features are introduced, deleting a pHood account will not by itself cancel or refund a purchase. Any cancellation and refund rights will be explained before purchase and handled according to the applicable purchase channel and law.

7. Your content and our technology

You retain your rights in food descriptions, photos, corrections, and other content you submit. You give Ananke a limited license to host, process, reproduce, and transform that content only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and support the Service. This license ends when the content is deleted, subject to limited backups and legal retention.

pHood’s software, designs, interfaces, trademarks, documentation, models, and related technology are owned by Ananke or its licensors. These Terms give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service; they do not transfer ownership of the Service.

8. Availability, third-party services, and disclaimers

The Service depends on networks and specialized providers for identity, hosting, billing, food analysis, and other operations. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features and do not promise uninterrupted availability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without implied warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ananke and its affiliates, personnel, contractors, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities arising from the Service. Ananke’s aggregate liability relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of amounts you paid for pHood during the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so they may not apply to you.

10. Suspension, deletion, and termination

You may stop using pHood at any time and may request deletion of your pHood account. Deletion removes pHood-owned data subject to lawful retention, but does not automatically delete your separate Origin identity. We may limit or suspend access to protect users, the Service, or legal obligations, and will provide notice and an opportunity to appeal where appropriate.

11. Governing law, changes, and general terms

These Terms are governed by Colorado law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Except where applicable law provides otherwise, disputes must be brought in state or federal courts located in Boulder County, Colorado. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern informally.

We may update these Terms as pHood, Origin, our providers, or law changes. We will post the revised Terms, update the date above, and provide additional notice when required. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. These Terms and incorporated policies are the complete agreement regarding the Service.
